Devlin Road Recycling and Transfer Facility (DRRTF) has selected Sparta Manufacturing to design and build a state-of-the-art 70-ton-per-hour construction and demolition (C&D) recycling system for the new 130,000-square-foot recycling facility currently under construction at the Devlin Road Transfer Station in
American Canyon, California.
Northern Recycling Operations & Waste Services, a family-owned and locally operated recycling and waste management company, recently secured a 15-year contract to operate the facility.
Designed to divert tens of thousands of tons of recoverable material from landfill annually, the new plant is expected to significantly increase recycling rates while improving operational efficiency and environmental performance.
As a leading North American plant builder and systems integrator, Sparta is integrating the best-fit technology key processing equipment into its state of the art turnkey DRRTF C&D system, to maximize recovery of recyclables from incoming C&D waste streams.
“The Sparta system integrates shredding (SSI), screening (Action & AEI), air/density separating (HuMeij), metals recovery (Steinert) and more,” says Howard Fiedler, Sparta VP of sales. “We deeply value the highly collaborative process with Steve and his team, in designing this system to most efficiently and productively process Northern Recycling’s mixed C&D stream. The synergy was palpable and the collective result will be industry-leading on all levels,” says Fiedler.
According to Steve Kelley, General Manager of Devlin Road Recycling and Transfer Facility, extensive visits to recycling operations across North America played a key role in the equipment evaluation process.
The system is designed to recover a wide range of materials, including clean wood, wallboard, aggregates, metals, cardboard, plastics, and alternative daily cover (ADC).
By moving operations indoors into a purpose-built facility, Northern Recycling expects to improve recovery rates, enhance workplace safety, and create a more efficient operating environment for employees.
The project reflects a collaborative partnership between Northern Recycling and Sparta, combining decades of operational and engineering experience to develop a solution tailored to the facility’s long-term diversion and sustainability goals.
