ENGINEERING MANAGER

 

Location:  Greater Moncton (Notre-Dame, NB)

 

Job Type:  Full-time

 

Job Description:

The Engineering manager is responsible for the direct management of the engineering team with a high priority on directing troubleshooting, improvement efforts, and ensuring that its team is providing engineering solutions per the need of the organization in a timely manner. Primary responsibilities include: (i) creating and executing the engineering department strategies to achieve business objectives, (ii) ensuring that the required level of engineering service is provided to all areas of the manufacturing operation (iii) reviewing product designs and making recommendations to ensure manufacturing and end-user operating targets are achieved, (iv) determining methods, processes, equipment and technologies that enable the company to meet its growth while keeping warranty to a minimum.

 

The ideal candidate excels in a fast-passed team environment and has exceptional interpersonal and people management skills, with the ability to effectively support and guide the engineering team and to build and maintain strategic working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and lead an engineering design team for the production of customized projects in the recycling industry
  • Continually improve engineering department procedures
  • Assign, direct, coordinate and evaluate work of engineering team and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence while providing leadership and mentorship to team members
  • Establish and maintain systems to manage and evaluate scope of work changes and equipment modifications
  • Provide engineering support to the other departments
  • Provide technical support to field service representatives. When appropriate, make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency
  • Assist with activities associated with pre-commissioning, commissioning, handover and rectification as required
  • Communicate with customers and visits job sites as necessary
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision and able to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Responsible to provide support and engineering input to management
  • Inspire customers, team members as well as competitors

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with strong management experience
  • Professional Engineer designation preferred
  • Understanding of machine design concepts
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to effectively delegate
  • Knowledge of financial and administrative processes
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks software
  • Excellent leadership skills
