PURCHASING OFFICER

The Opportunity:

 

We are seeking a Senior Purchasing Officer to join our rapidly growing organization. The Senior Procurement Officer will play a critical role in driving cost savings, improving supplier performance, mitigating risks, and contributing to the overall success of the organization through strategic procurement practices. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient and effective management of the procurement process, resulting in the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support the organization’s operations. The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, establishing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, optimizing procurement processes, managing contracts, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. The main responsibilities of the Senior Purchasing Officer consists of:

 

Key Repsonsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to optimize purchasing processes and achieve cost savings.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Lead the sourcing and selection process for various goods and services, including preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), and invitations to bid (ITBs).
  • Develop and manage contracts, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs, provide guidance and support, and ensure timely procurement of goods and services.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including conducting supplier audits, resolving issues, and maintaining supplier relationships to optimize supplier performance and mitigate risks.
  • Impart technical expertise and mentorship to junior procurement staff, facilitating their professional development and fostering their growth in technical skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Monitor procurement trends and industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and implement innovative procurement strategies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on procurement activities and performance for senior management.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in business, supply chain management, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on strategic sourcing, purchasing, and contract management
  • Strong interest and aptitude in mechanical systems
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Bilingualism – Fluent in French & English. Written and spoken
